The department of Biochemistry has two laboratories namely 1.Chemistry of Biomolecules and 2.Bioinstrumentation, which are highly equipped with all kinds of
sophisticated instruments like PC based 8 glass filter Digital Colorimeters, Micro processor based Colorimeters, Binocular microscopes with different
magnifications, Muffle Furnace, Hot Air Oven , Incubators , Soxhlet extractor, Thermostatic Water Baths, Electrophoretic Apparatus including SDS PAGE,
Chromatographic Units, Digital Electronic Balance, Double Distillation apparatus and other basic equipment needed to carry out all kinds of Biochemistry
practicals both on Major & Allied subjects and also for carrying out Major subject projects
1. A very good collection of books in the departmental library.
2. Very good classrooms with necessary furniture, well – equipped laboratories for doing BSc Practical works and also for Major Subject
projects.
3. Over Head projectors, and LCDs are being used as aids for effective teaching
4. It is mandatory to every student of this department must enroll his / her names in Google class room for online coaching.
5. Computer with internal facilities are also available in the department for the benefit of the students for getting online resources.
1. The Department is regularly conducting blood grouping campaign for college and school students.
2. The department has conducted basic health check up like measuring Blood sugar, Monitoring Blood pressure & Analyzing Blood grouping for officials of Police department along with District Police Administration at National Engineering College, Kovilpatti.
3. An awareness programme on Impacts of Drug abuse for school students in Kovilpatti Educational district was conducted by this department.
4. Our department periodically conducts awareness programme on the impact of drug abuse.
